Make way for our new logo

Today marks the launch of our new logo, the first step in an overall branding update to reflect our maturity and the evolution of our vision. Perfect Memory’s historic logo – the PM planet – was created in 2008 by the interaction designer Clémence Debaig. We were very attached to this logo but felt that the current acceleration of Perfect Memory’s evolution, both economic and human, required a more profound change. Consequently, a new logo has been thought through and designed, and we wanted to share with you the rationales behind such change. Frédéric Maillot, Perfect memory’s Art Director in charge of the project, explains: “Perfect Memory manages, enriches and sublimates knowledge with the desire to disrupt the natural course of things. And it was to “reinvent ourselves and give life to our ambitions” that we had to rethink our logo, which is now ten years old. The rigor, excellence and incredible creativity of team “La Perfect” had to be subtly represented and, as surprising as it may seem, it was nature that inspired this creation. This logo incorporates the most rigorous proportion nature has to offer: the golden ratio. This spiral can be found in the shape of polar cyclones, galaxies, flowers, waves, our ears, the tips of our hands and now in the shape of the tips of the monoliths of the new Perfect Memory logo. The thickness of the lines, the spaces, the sizes of the different elements all respond to the Fibonacci sequence, which itself is linked to the golden ratio. A mathematical and rigorous logo represented by natural shapes. Some will see it as a hieroglyph, others will see it as monoliths like those in the films 2001, A Space Odyssey (1968) or First Contact (2016) … Each time, the relationship to knowledge, its accessibility, its sharing, and its restitution are inherent. But take a closer look, couldn’t we also see the initials of Perfect Memory?” During the internal presentation of the logo on January 25, 2021, named “épokhè“, Steny Solitude, founder of Perfect Memory, shared his vision: “Why épokhè? […] The term is rarely used, or in very particular contexts. We wanted to use it in Edmond Husserl’s definition of it: the suspension or the disruption of the natural course of things. Perfect seeks to suspend the natural course of things, this has been our ambition from the beginning in our field of application: the engineering of knowledge. We have evolved a lot; we have often reinvented ourselves to give substance to an ambitious project which has the potential to upset the established order. We are, and we want to be, the épokhè of actors in the knowledge society that is emerging, hidden behind such prosaic terms as DAM, EDM, Big Data, AI, etc. So, it was time to review what carries our identity: our logo. A logo that today replaces the one created by Clémence Debaig 10 years ago, which was designed for the general public, and was based on the notion of flow of knowledge, of confluence. Although our ambition is now focused on businesses, our desire to serve end-users and to simplify the daily lives of the women and men who are carrying out the digital transformation of their organizations has not diminished. This association of the human being and science is at the core of our logo, which is part of the continuation of Fibonacci, the meeting between mathematics and all the phenomena of life. In the same way, a strong ambition still drives us today, to suspend the natural course of things for our observers, our competitors, our markets. This is the message that the new logo must carry.” In the coming days, we will roll our graphic identity out and deploy our new website. We have not changed; we are still Perfect Memory. Semantic data: The challenge of live sport data

La Perfect is very proud to share its last collaboration in the research field: a piece published in the last issue of the Journal of Digital Media Management. In this summer of 2018, la Perfect worked closely with the European Broadcasting Union to manage the 2018 European Championships data feeds. Jean Pierre Evain (EBU Technology and Innovation Department), Francesco Piva (EBU Software Engineer), Guillaume Rachez and Cédric Klein (Perfect Memory Project Leaders) testify about the challenge of handling live sport data, through a semantic approach. The full article is available on the Journal of Digital Media Management Website, but you can read the abstract below. In the world of sport, the role of data is absolutely central. During any competition event, continuous data feeds provide information on athletes, teams, start lists, schedules and live results — information that must be handled seamlessly and in real time. During the 2018 European Championships, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) applied semantic modelling to sport data, using a platform with a back-end capable of handling thousands of live data messages in real time. Official data from the event organisers was provided in the Olympic Data Feed format and transformed live to the EBUSport semantic format, before being fed to Perfect Memory’s smart media asset management system, connecting results, athlete bios and events to content edited from feeds and logging. The use of semantic technologies makes it possible to navigate linked data in innovative front-end applications. This paper provides a detailed review of the technical challenges faced when managing a semantic data driven ecosystem, and discusses the lessons learned. ...

RTL Belgium chooses Perfect Memory’s Semantic Platform

This project, which is part of ambitious innovation programs driven by the enterprise for the past 20 years, aims to connect production and operation channels of data and content, in order to better serve the operators and improve its user experience. Steny Solitude, CEO and Founder of PERFECT MEMORY, specifies: “With our key challenge of putting data at the heart of the new audiovisual asset management system, this platform enables us to strengthen the strategic needs of traceability and simplification of access to all the steps of the document life-cycle: from its production, to broadcasting “On Air” and on the Internet, and until its archiving.» RAFFINÉ™, the innovative offer of PERFECT MEMORY, a cloud-powered semantic data management platform (S-DMP), capable of automatically reconciling every type of data source (internal and external), every data format (text, image, audio, video), and every data type (structured or non-structured). Perfect Memory’s Semantic Data Management Platform spotted by american media influencer

Earlier this month, Herve Utheza, CEO of Utheza Media Advisory, released a post on Nscreenmedia about broadcasting. Entitled “Broadcasting is dead, long live “broad-net-casting”, this article is a pamphlet about the future of Broadcasting. Based on thoughts about the last IBC Show in Septembre, the review shows a short term glimpse on Broadcasting. Perfect Memory is quoted as a brilliant example of software solution about digital asset management, as Herve Utheza says : “In the minor halls, smaller vendors had a different focus. They were promoting software-only solutions and tools to manage exponentially growing vaults of digital media. One which attracted my attention was Perfect Memory, with a fantastic platform-architected solution using “semantics” and “ontology” to perform media asset search and management. DAS 2015 : Introducing Perfect Memory’s semantic engine in the MoMA

Following the deployment of Perfect Memory’s Middleware for the French Community of Belgium, Steny Solitude will introduce the semantic engine at the DAS 2015 conference in the Museum of Modern Art in New York city on May 8th. Perfect Memory is pleased to invite you at the Digital Asset Symposium 2015, one of the top show about digital challenges. Obviously, keynotes speakers invited in this event are tops experts in their field of work. The French Community of Belgium and Perfect Memory will introduce the ‘numeriques.be’ website and especially the semantic engine implemented for the PEPS project.
